Yemen and Singapore discuss aspects of bilateral relations [Archives:2007/1054/Local News]

SANA'A, May 27 ) In a series of meetings held over the period of May 23-26, Yemen and Singapore agreed to enhance their bilateral relations especially in aspects related to administrative and economic fields and to increase investments and trade exchange. The two countries also discussed mechanisms of cultural cooperation.

Both countries also agreed to facilitate issuing visas after a discussion meeting between the Yemeni Interior Minister Rashad Al-Alimi and the Singaporean Foreign Minister George Yeo. In addition, the two sides discussed boosting the security cooperation.

Yoe assured that his country is serious about enhancing its relations with Yemen as evidenced by his visit together with many Singaporean officials and businessmen. He further pointed out that Singapore has appointed a non-resident ambassador to Yemen, a step before a full representation. He also expressed his country's readiness to increase the number of training scholarships given to Yemenis and review the air transport treaty.

In his meeting with Yeo, Yemeni Prime Minister Ali Majawar presented the investment opportunities available before Singaporean businessmen especially in tourism sector, outlining the numerous facilities and benefits of Yemeni investment law.
