Yemen Times to hold human rights seminar [Archives:2002/17/Local News]
The Yemen Times will hold on 27-28 April, at its headquarters in Sanaa a seminar on human rights under the motto Human Rights: More than Politics,. The event is under sponsorship of the Human Rights Ministry.
Important officials are expected to attend the event. It will have number of working papers on human rights to be discussed.
Walid Abdulaziz al Saqqaf, editor-in-chief of the Yemen Times, is among the presenters. He will talk about the need to raise awareness about the true meaning of human rights.
Others include issues such as public awareness and human rights by Dr. Mohammed al Mutawakel, the role of the Ministry of Human Rights, by Dr. Wahiba Faree, State minister of Human Rights, the role of the press, by Mahboob Ali, Chairman of the Yemeni Journalists Syndicate, and the role of the Shoura Council in rooting the principles of human rights, by Dr. Abdul Malik Mansour.
Discussions will center not only on political rights but peoples right to have a good education, health services, a decent life and similar themes.
