Yemeni College Athletes Win Gold in Pan-Arab Games [Archives:1998/11/Front Page]

Three gold medals, two silver medals and one bronze were the bounty with which the Sanaa University Team came back from the inter-university Arab Championship concluded in Egypt on March 6th.
The first gold medal went to Ms. Maha Al-Sharjabi who is Yemen’s first female gold medalist in chess competitions. She bit contestants from 24 Arab universities.
Khalid Al-Maflahi and Khalid Al-Omaisi won the gold and silver medals in male chess games. The first, second, and third places in table tennis games were won by Hani Moussa, Mohammed Jara-Allah, and Jamal Al-Arami, respectively.
But these outstanding athletes came back hungry. The per diem given to each athlete was a grand total of US$ 100. More on Sports Page
