Yemen’s national carrier, Yemenia Airlines, made record ticket sales during 1997. With an increase of 18% over 1996, more than 694,000 passengers were transported by Yemenia last year. The airline sources indicated that the company will improve its financial system through expanding its computer capacity, and improve passenger service by issuing automated tickets. Plans for 1998 include the introduction into the service of four new Boing 727s, three Boing 737s, and a modern Dash 7.
