Yemen’s Children to Have their own Parliament. [Archives:2000/14/Local News]
On April 1, 2000, 20 thousand children representing 31 preparatory schools in Sana’a participated in parliamentary elections of the Yemeni children. This democratic project is adopted by a culture Institution called Noshata’a (active) which aims at spreading the concepts and principles of democracy among the Yemeni students to be aware of the elections concepts, democracy and free competitions to establish a small parliament to discuss children’s affairs and rights. The balloting date was fixed on 12th April, under the supervision of the supreme committee of elections and the ministry of education to create a public opinion in relevance with children rights.
