SANA'A- Sept. 27- An official source in the Yemeni Teachers Syndicate confirmed that application of the new jobs, wages and salaries law No. 43 of 2005 with a retrospective effect will harm teachers and exacerbate a deterioration in their already abominable living standards.

The source said the new strategy currently implemented by the government on different levels of job hierarchies will cancel the legal entitlements granted to teachers under the Teacher Law No. 38 of 1998.

The YTS said that under the new strategy, teachers will be demoted, particularly those having degrees below university level.

The YTS source concluded by saying: “We at the Yemen Teachers Syndicate strongly object to the application of the new strategy and claim promotion of workers in the educational field to fit the current situations of living.”
