1st workshop on financial resources winds up [Archives:2002/18/Local News]

Working papers were presented during the first workshop held in Sanaa on April 17 to 19 centering on different new methods on the proper money collection.
The role of the Local Administration Ministry was also discussed during the three-day workshop with regard to supervising the financial resources in both districts and governorates in the republic.
The executive bodies in each administrative unit is entrusted to collect money from the financial resources supervised by the Local Council in accordance with the Local Council valid laws and regulations. The collected amounts of money have to be sent regularly to the private accounts.
Two kinds of financial resources have been identified:
Local financial resources, money that has been collected only for the benefit of districts. The second one is called joint financial resources which is pertaining to governorates as a whole.
In a statement to the Yemen Times, the Local Administration Deputy Ministry, Abdulwahab Ahmed stressed that proposals and commentaries that have been presented by participants have gained the attention of the Ministry of the Local Administration with a view of promoting the financial resources in the administrative units.
The participants has made use of the each others experience through questions that have been raised during the workshop meeting. Abdulwahab said.
We have been waiting impatiently for such workshop. I hope that the workshop will achieve good results, the General Manager of the General Corp. for Financial Resources in Hadhramoot, Shefa Mohammed al-Yazedi said.
In Hadhramoot financial resources depend mainly on Qat, traffic , and fish taxes , Shefa said.
