Highwaymen Arrested

The leader of the most dangerous gang of highwaymen and a number of his cohorts were arrested earlier this month. Some members of gang, specializing in armed car thefts, were arrested following the stealing of a car, which belonged to the UN under the threat of firearms. A total of 16 cars belonging to international organizations operating in Yemen as well as government vehicles were stolen by the gang. Investigations are still underway to find the whereabouts of the other members of the gang and the stolen cars.
Also arrested was the leader of a five-gang orgaization which deal in “hot” cars. The gangs cheaply buy stolen cars and resell them in a different governorate. Three of the five gangs were arrested and search is still on for the other two.
