Main Headlines: 1) The President: “We have great tasks ahead of us, at the forefront of which are the battle for development, stability, and peace.” 2) Minister of Legal Affairs: “Local authority law limits a governor’s term in office by 4 years.” 3) Minister of Justice: “The judicial reform plan includes 17 draft laws.” 4) Minister of Labor: “Employing foreign workers will be stopped.” Article Summary: For a Society without Qat by: Iskander Al-Asbahi Chewing qat is a psychological habit, not a physical addiction. It is not a drug. Yemenis living abroad do not seem to need qat. They can give it up easily. Qat is a health, economic, social, and environmental catastrophe. Planting qat encroaches on Yemen’s arable land, and uses up a large proportion of its water resources. The harmful habit must be eradicated from our society. Society will surely find an alternative. The elimination of the habit of chewing qat cannot be done overnight. A national strategy is needed, executed over a period of 10 to 20 years.
