Another American thought:
I want to share another comment on the Israeli/Palestinian conflict. It is clear that the American government is allowing Israel to continue the occupation of Palestinian territories (to say the least). The appropriate action for the US government (and Europe) to take is not only request a ceasefire and a halt of settlements in the occupied territories, as stated in the UN resolution, but also enforce it by sending in troops and pushing the Israelis back to the borders outlined by the UN. Wasnt this done in the Iraq/Kuwait conflict? Didnt the US lead a mission to push the Iraqis back off Kuwaiti territory? Of course, there was an economic interest in Kuwait but if there werent, would the Kuwaitis suffer the same displacement?
Enough world diplomats have seen the deplorable conditions that the Palestinians have been living in for over 50 years. It is time to take a very active role (based on the appropriate UN resolution) and make Palestine a home for its people; the Palestinian civilians have suffered enough because of failed diplomatic talks.

Dear Editor,
Your editorial hit the nail on the head. Yes, the Arabs should look more closely at themselves. What Ariel Sharon has done is one of many wake up calls, since the Turkish Empire. Historically, their struggle has been to free themselves from colonialism, by other powers, but never paid much attention to the colonialism within. Yes, the Israeli occupation of Palestinian land should end, but it will make no difference, as long as the Arabs are disunited. They will always remain weak and vulnerable. Just look back 50 years and condition. While Japan, China, Germany, Italy, England, France, the United States and oh yes, Israel, were building up almost from ground zero, the Arabs were building bigger and better palaces and fighting among themselves. As Pogo said in the cartoon, We found the enemy, and he is us.
