Columnist Zaid al-Shami writes that the 10th conference of the Nasserite Unionist Organisation has concluded its meetings and managed to muster ranking representatives from the nationalist and Islamic union. It was impressive scene of that harmony in the Yemeni, Egyptian, Syrian, Iraqi and Palestinian presence at the conference where the common concern of our nation was there.

In the opening ceremony of the conference, all the present affirmed that renaissance would not be realized by fabrication of crises and battles between Arabism and Islam. The Islam has raised status of the Arabs from merely conflicting tribes to leaders of good, justice, peace and prosperity. Who would deny that the Arabs formed the vanguards of armies for the spread of Islam and they had been in the forefront in building the civilization of Islam?

The Nasserite Unionist Organisation conference has expressed the common woes locally and at the pan-Arab level, in the first place of which is the narrow margin of democracy, limitation of freedoms, violations of human rights, recession of justice and living strains.

Those are issues that deserve to be tackled as a basis for the release of the human creativity and capabilities and feeling of his readiness for sacrifice.

Such conferences, in addition to their being a factor strengthening power of the political parties, would revitalize the political life, shake stagnant waters, and also submit issues related to the citizens life.
