– Culture Minister accuses GBA Chairman of embezzlement

The Minister of Culture Khaled Al-Rowaishan asked head and members of the parliamentary media and culture committee to take the necessary procedures against Faris Al-Saqqaf, Chairman of the General Book Authority, for illegally withdrawing money in his name after dropping his family name from the checks so that nobody can identify him, the Islah Party-affiliated weekly reported. It quoted the Culture Minister as saying that his deputy Ali Hashem Bin Ali was authorized to go to the GBA Chairman to detect the money withdrawal from the bank against a check without his last name.

Reacting to the accusation, Al-Saqqaf said: “The Culture Minister is not entitled to interrogate or question me and he fears that I may replace him. Al-Rowaishan has become furious and irritated after he heard of the new cabinet formation.”
