Columnist Abdulla al-Qadhi says that the government bodies usually hold celebrations and festivals and symposiums on the World Population Day which falls on the 11th of July. This is something good and perhaps it has been understood as casting light and increasing awareness about the population issue.
The population problem in Yemen is increasing year by year and is getting aggravated. The population growth rate reaches more than 3.7, which is the highest rate in the world. According to specialists the problem of population lies in the big difference for realizing the population growth and the limited of resources and weakness of economic growth and inability of development to face the needs of the population. The reason behind failure of population projects and programs is attributed to the administrative corruption and spread of the phenomena of wantonness as the government itself testified in linking corruption and terror in the latest government program read out in the parliament. In conclusion the population growth if not accompanied by setting up plans and programs and are being implemented the population increase would continue to be a strong challenge heralding dangerous economic and social consequences in the present and future.
