An official report revealed that the corruption cases, registered by the Central Organization for Control and Audit, cost the national economy financial losses exceeding YR 25 billion, the weekly newspaper reported. It added that the report, which was distributed recently, stated the financial losses were caused by 1044 corruption cases recorded by COCA over the past four years. The report clarified that the total corruption cases, which were discovered over the past four years, number up to 361 leading to financial losses exceeding YR 200 billion.

According to the newspaper, COCA received reports on 683 corruption cases, which caused Yemen lose more than YR 2 billion, in addition to large sums in foreign currencies. The report was released while the concerned judicial authorities neither tried nor questioned any of the officials involved in corruption cases and public money embezzlements.
