Al-Shumous Al-Saqqaf with 5 more released [Archives:2002/07/Local News]

The president of the Republic, the Field Marshal, Ali Abdullah Saleh gave his orders to set the Acting Editor-in-Chief of Al-Shomou Newspaper free together with five staff employees of the newspaper. They were detained by the Criminal Investigation and remained there for five days when a disagreement arose between the Information Minister and Al-Shomou Editor-in-Chief, Saif Mohammed Al-Hadheri due to the writings at the newspaper which were greatly opposed by the Information Minister and a number of ministers at the government.
In the same context, Al-Shomou Newspaper staff has issued a press release highly thanking the president for setting the newspaper’s employees free. The newspaper has highly appreciated the president’s attitudes towards press freedom and respecting the others opinions.
