Cotton Crop Falls

Cotton farmers in Abyan have blamed official agricultural bodies for the failing of the cotton crop this season. Despite notifying the Ministry of Agriculture’s office in the governorate and other plant protection organs of the prevalence of plant diseases and pests, the farmers did not get any help. The average yield of a single hectare this season is about 20% of last year’s. The returns will not be enough to cover the losses, the farmers explained.
