Columnist Nouman Qaied Saif discusses in his article the question of government employees' salaries and the argument on increasing them. He says whenever the people's voices of protest raise because of the deteriorated living condition the government resorts to declare very slight increases in salaries every some number of years. Despite the little amount of increases in the salaries of the lower ranks among the government officials they usually do not exceed the 20 percent and subject to taxes which absorbs it and prices jump up in response. In contrast the government gives jumping increases to senior government officials as lately suggested to be 150 percent.
