His Royal Highness, Abdullah bin Abdul Azziz, Crown Prince of Saudi Arabia passed an important degree recently in which he said that all government decision-makers must declare the details of financial assets. It is a great step and will help limit bribery and corruption.

The degree has also given the green light to all citizens, particularly journalists to point out the wrong doings of the government.

In my opinion, this step is one of democratic development within the Islamic Shari'a, which takes into consideration the culture, traditions and habits of the country and the region.

Such steps are highly welcomed, as opposed to imported ideas such as democracy, which contradict our beliefs, culture, and traditions.

Yemenis hope for such democratic developments.
