I am writing from Australia about some rumors about the “Republican Guard” in the defense of Baghdad. It has been suggested the US did not want to sustain casualties in the capitol Baghdad, they saw the heavy going and the resistance the British were up against in Basra. The suggestion is that Iraqi Generals were paid in US dollars to remove their troops out of Baghdad, thereby reducing US casualties making the war more acceptable to US citizens? Reasons are as follows:
1. What happened to all the Republican Guard defending Baghdad?
2. Suddenly turning up are hundreds of US dollars being discovered by their troops?
3. A bus (truck) load of Iraqi's were stopped in the west of the country fleeing to Syria, there was over $600,000 USD in the vehicle?
All this money suddenly turning up, looking new notes from video footage suggests “Where there is smoke there is fire” with minimum of opposition the US had in Baghdad, coupled with the disappearance of the Iraqi troops.
Does this rumor have any substance?
If so, it would answer a lot of unanswered questions, I can always be contacted by any of your readers on my email address.
