British Embassy Approves New Projects [Archives:2001/42/Local News]
As part of its commitment to support Yemen’s development, the UK government provided developmental aid under the annual Small Grants Program, carried out by the Department for International Development.
In August and September, the British Embassy approved funding for a total of 11 projects in the Capital Secretariat of Sana’a, two in Aden, and one each in Hadhramout, Hajja, Mahweet and Socotra. The major focus of the projects is the alleviation of poverty and improving the quality of life of the disadvantaged and marginalized. Projects include rural water resource management, assistance to the physically disabled, primary health care and educational programs. The Small Grants Program is managed in Yemen by the British Council.
