In a statement to 26 September newspaper, Brigadier Saeed Abdu Al-Khameri, director of legal affairs at the Interior Ministry said that some amendments had been done to law No. 47 for 1991 concerning foreigners entry and residence in Yemen. Foreigners arriving in Yemen have to enroll their names and the purpose of visiting Yemen at the nearest police station to their residence within one week from arrival. Illegal residence fines according to the new law increased to 6 month imprisonment and YRs 30 thousand. Same punishment is imposed on those who enter illegally or do not renew their residence, he said. He added that such procedures would help limit illegal arrival, departure and residence.
