Journalists visit Aden University [Archives:2002/31/Local News]
The Aden University received on July 7-11 a journalists delegation. The visit to the campus of the university has produced good impressions. The university has witnessed educational and academic revival. We were acquainted with the historical sites of this breath-taking city.
Inviting journalists was a good step to be informed on the current academic situation. Journalists have familiarized themselves with different departments of the university.
We met with its Rector, Saleh Ali Basurah and as journalists, we feel proud to meet the Rector and know much about the university. The University of Aden has a leading role in raising awareness in the society.
Despite of the difficult circumstances the university has experienced, highly qualified cadres have graduated from it specialized in all academic spheres.
The most deplorable thing is that the Faculty of law is still in need of financial support. We toured different departments of the university and we highly appreciated the exerted efforts to make of this edifice a great success for a better academic future. The university could achieve a remarkable success in all different academic spheres. The number of students enrolled at the university reached 2370 during the academic year, 2000- 2001. At the same time, the number of graduates in the same year reached 3491 in comparison with the previous year. The number of students from both sexes reached 1789.
In addition to this, the number of research and studies centers has reached 10 centers. They have been constructed to provide students with necessary periodicals, books and valuable references. The university has a printing machine for books and perhaps it is the only university that has this printing house.
