Ninth Week of Blind Commences today [Archives:2000/41/Local News]

Under the patronage of Prime Minster Dr. Al-Iryani, 9th Week of the Yemeni Blind Activities was inaugurated today under the slogan Qualifying The Yemeni Blind Children Today Is a Guarantee for The Future. Activities included sketches, poems reciting, etc. On the second day a seminar on teaching blind children will be organized during which a number of lectures will be delivered by Dr. Mohammed Nasser Humaid, professor at in the faculty of Arts and Dr. Fadhel Zamel Al-Jinabi chairman of the Special Needs department in Ibb University. The seminar will be chaired by Mr. Abdulkareem Al-Jindari deputy minister of education.
Blind childrens right to health services will be discussed on the third day in the presence of Dr. Izzah Ghanem, Dr. Abdulghani Al-Barrak and will be presided by Dr. Abdulkareem Al-Shaibani, deputy minister of health. Discussions on the fourth day will be centered on blind childrens rights to protection. Among participants are Dr. Khaled Tomaim, professor of sociology in Sanaa University, Mrs. Fatimah Mash-hour director general of Woman and Child department in the Ministry of Insurance and Social Affairs for Social Development and Mr. Ali Saleh Abdullah, deputy minister of Insurance and Social Affairs.

The activities will wind up on the fifth day with felicitation to distinguished children and participants.
