weekly, organ of Yemen Armed Forces, August 24, 2000.
The newspaper has editorialized that the constitutional amendments could not be limited within the framework of executive and legislative powers, as some might understand. Amendments go beyond that to visions connected with the general interest of the homeland. They should be looked at through the perspective of their close link to all walks of life of the society at political, economic and social levels. These levels must be developed and taken care of as they are the fundamental axis of the constitutional amendments.
The constitutional amendments are of concern to all and for all segments of the society. Thus they ought to be dealt with on grounds of representing the supreme interest of the people. They should not be dealt with through a narrow perspective serving interests of certain group or groups in the society.
