Iraq’s Vice President Expected to Arrive in Sana’a
The Emir of the State of Qater, His Highness Sheikh Hamad Bin Khaleefa Al Thanee and the Iraqi Vice-President Taha Yassin Ramadhan are expected to arrive in Sanaa to to attend Yemen’s celebration of Unification Day anniversary on May 22, Yemeni sources said Wednesday.
President Ali Abdullah Saleh who had sent invitations to all Arab heads of state to attend the said celebrations had earlier said he thought that the circumstances of sanctions imposed on Iraq could not allow Iraq’s president Saddam Hussein to attend the celebrations.
Yemen that has only recently restored normal relations with Kuwait, has repeatedly called for ending the UN sanctions imposed on Iraq since 1990-1991 Gulf crisis.
