Saleh threatens to end relations with Vatican [Archives:2006/982/Local News]
SANA'A, Sept. 16 ) President Ali Abdullah Saleh has threatened on Saturday that Yemen may reconsider its relations with Vatican City State unless the Pope Benedict XVI apologizes directly for his action.
The Pope tried yesterday to calm Muslim anger at his remarks on Islam, saying he was “deeply sorry”” about the reaction and that medieval quotes he used on holy war did not reflect his personal views.
Yemeni Religious Scholars Association condemned the Pope for his speech against Islam. In a statement issued two days ago
