Ministry of Water and Environment has revealed the serious consequences of exploiting and utilizing water in Sana'a basin for the plantation and growing of Qat. The Ministry also confirmed that there are more than 50 thousand water wells that are depleting drinking water in the Sana'a basin.
The rapidly reduction of water reserves in Sana'a will definitely lead to an environmental catastrophe and a sharp crisis in the availability of drinking water for the population in Sana'a City and in nearby governorates.
