I'm writing to you about the case of the Spanish citizen Nabil al-Manakli and I would like to express my concern about his possible imminent execution.
I urge H.E. Ali Abdullah Saleh to commute the death sentence and prevent the execution of Nabil al-Manakli. I acknowledge the right of the Government to bring to justice anyone found responsible for criminal offences, but I would like to express my unconditional opposition to the death penalty.
I remind you the international standards for fair trial in capital cases, including the right to seek pardon or commutation of the sentence.
