The editor seems stuck on absolute freedom, freedom without restriction. Does he mean the freedom to rape, murder steal? I think not.
All “free” societies are limited in some manner. Personal freedoms are limited sufficiently to allow civility. National freedoms are limited to allow mutual existence. Freedom from an arms race allows resources to be used for services and infrastructure. Reasonably free elections may allow Sunni, Shiite and Kurdish Muslims to live together in peace and security.
