One wonders what's going on. If you take up a paper, you will find mostly about terrorism, suicide bombings, killings, blood shedding, assassinations, conspiracies, lies, fraud to read. What's that? In fact, the scale of suicide bombing is increasing day by day. It's not only in Israel, Iraq, Afghanistan but now engulfing other parts of the world.
In Israel it's been about granting free state to Palestinians as has been promised by the American President, Mr Bush, through road map. In Iraq, it is meant to weaken the ongoing war of US coalition forces and their pull-out from Iraq. In Afghanistan, also, against the US forces stationed in the wake of uprooting the Taliban regime. While in Bangladesh, that's new development in the current scenario, is about the enforcement of Islamic system.
Meanwhile, the extraordinary meeting of OIC in Saudi Arabia tabled with scores of suggestions and ideas by the Muslim leaders from 57 countries, underlining a need for its restructuring and reorganization on sound basis is a very significant development, but it needs to be done as promptly as possible. Likewise, a strong condemnation came from OIC against terrorism and extremism, no matter, whosoever involved in it that is, I believe, a clear message to those who are trying to present a wrong picture of the Muslim Ummah across the globe.
What's surprising to see is the extraordinary statement made by Mr Bush, admitting that US made a mistake by invading Iraq, but added that it would be a 'bigger mistake' if US withdraw her troops at this juncture. One really wonders to see such words conflicting the deeds on the part of Super Power. The story does not end here but it was more disheartening to learn that US administration while greasing the palms of the journalists – who have been carrying out risky job in Iraq – asked to tamper the direction of their writings in favour of US coalition troops. Amazing!
Such developments are giving us some suspicious signals as if Al Zarqawi and Co are going to be winner in the field despite having been targeted with heavy shelling and bombardments. Amidst the shootings and killings, what's funny is Saddam's boycott from the court on the basis of his expression of 'No-confidence' over the ongoing proceedings of the trial. He still considers himself as the President. Perhaps he still doesn't' tolerate anyone to speak out loudly in front of him as he was used to being obeyed humbly during his long tyrant rule. In fact, he assassinated hundreds of thousands of people, even he didn't spare his own family members either. Every single word of the judge is definitely now stinging him, but let him face the music and that's what I believe made him boycott the court. But he must remember that no boycott would ever save his skin now.
