H.E. Ms. Francis Guy, the Ambassador of the United Kingdom in Sana'a held a major reception on the occasion of the official birthday of Her Majesty, Queen Elizabeth II.
At the beginning of the reception party the ambassador Ms Guy thanked the audience for responding to the reception invitation, describing the Queen as ” she remains for the UK a living symbol for our own transition from Empire to member state of the European Union.”
On relations with Yemen, the ambassador expressed optimism that high level visitors from Britain play an important role in cementing the building blocks of bilateral relations. She added that,” The recent visit by the All party parliamentary group from British parliament was very welcome in this respect, as indeed was the holding of the first Yemen Day in the House of Commons last month,” hoping that it would be repeated.
The reception was attended by a host of invited guests of Yemeni officials and of various Yemeni society segments, in addition to Arab and foreign diplomats and representatives of international organizations accredited to the Republic of Yemen and journalists representing Yemeni mass media.
