Workshop on preserving the coastal areas is to be held [Archives:2002/20/Local News]

The third workshop on the strategic program of the coastal areas of the Aden governorate is to be organized by the General Corp. for Environment Protection in conjunction with the Regional Corp. for Protection the Red Sea and the Aden Gulf from 13 to 15 during the current month.
More than 50 participants from different governorates, Jordan, Egypt, Sudan, and Djibouti will take part in mapping out a comprehensive management for coastal areas in the Aden governorate.
The national coordinator for regional program, Dr. Mohammed Mahdi Abu Bakr stated that the new program will focus primarily on preserving the natural resources when implementing or running developmental projects.
Dr. Mahdi added further that the workshop will deal with two other workshops held in Aden revolving around the environmental undertaking including the problems of filling up, washouts and random constructions along the coastal areas. Other environmental issues will reviewed by the workshop including the destruction of the natural sanctuaries and sea coral reefs.
