Yemen and Iran sign an agreement on fisheries [Archives:2002/26/Local News]
An agreement to research the fish stock in Yemen was signed between Yemens Ministry of Fisheries and representatives of the private sector in the Islamic Republic of Iran.
The research covers a feasibility study in rearing shrimp along the Yemeni coast plus protecting fisheries within Yemeni territorial waters.
The two sides agreed to jointly run refrigeration units, maintenance centers, ship building yards and the management of fishing ports.
Iran will help develop the Yemeni fishing fleet and consider the purchase of ten Iranian-made ships within the third and fourth year of the five year contract.
