You have touched an important issue and are absolutely right regarding the Arab, or rather in our case Yemeni, mentality concerning individualism. The fact is that individualism dominates in the companies and institutions in Arab countries, in terms of them not being institutionalized. This is true even in Multi-national companies that are working in Yemen. Once a position is 'Yemenized', that is the end of rules laid down by expatriates. Favoritism, bribery, nepotism and tribalism all dominate the daily running of the company. Unqualified personnel are recruited in the organization or upgraded, while others who believe in institutionalization are left behind.
